No Foot Too Small is excited to be hosting its annual Wave of Light event on Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, Tuesday, October 15th, in Des Moines, Iowa at the State Capitol Grounds. This event is free to the public and invites parents, family and friends to participate in a global movement to light candles in celebration of their angel babies.
Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. so guests can sign in, pick-up candles, and share the name of their angel(s) to be read aloud during the program.
The event starts promptly at 7:00 p.m. with opening remarks and the reading of the names of all the angels being honored this Pregnancy + Infant Loss Remembrance Day. We will light candles for our angels to collectively mark the short flame of our babies' lives, while acknowledging the collective impact that they had—and STILL have—on us as parents, family, and friends. As candles are lit in each time zone, the literal wave of light is passed around the world for 24 hours, long after your own candle has burned out.
Pregnancy + Infant Loss Awareness Month was originally founded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988, aiming to support parents who had suffered the loss of a child, creating a national platform for awareness and advocacy for the private grief that many families share, while also giving them a formal space in which to honor the memories of their children.
We encourage family members and friends of angels to join us on this special night celebrated around the world as we honor, celebrate, and remember babies taken too soon.
