This is an open invitation to join me at the 2024 Monumental Marathon, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 9th, 2024 in Indianapolis, IN...my first marathon run, post-transplant...Today (11/5/2023), I am hanging out in the ICU at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, waiting for the new ticker. Making plans for 2024, keeps me motivated to stay fit, physically AND emotionally...
My current heart has journeyed with me on 114 marathons. This current status of waiting is its own form of marathon. As I wait, I dream of the races I will do in the future.
This race will be incredibly important for me, my family, and friends. I hope that you will join me on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Come run beside me, in front or behind me, as I return to the roads, running my first marathon, post-transplant.

Why Monumental Marathon?
3 reasons...
A) The date works well, in that post-transplant, it gives me enough time to make sure the body is ready to rumble, not knowing how long it will take to get back in the groove...
2) Monumental has a 13.1 that begins at the same time/place as the 26.2, meaning we could all run together until the half turns off at mile +/-7... There is even a 5K offering, if the 13.1/26.2 are just a titch too far...
d) I have been on this course numerous times...running, biking, pacing, coaching, spectating/cheering...it's an AMAZING race, run on a F A S T course...I hope you can join me in celebrating my return to the roads!
Early plans have us all doing dinner together on Friday evening, Nov. 8th, 2024...location TBD, as well as F U N dinner/party on Saturday evening after the race...we'll update details on this page often!
Registration goes LIVE on January 1, 2024.
