We are stoked to announce another dual headliner. It also promises to be a real historical event as it features the legendary Neville King on the wheels of steel. The renowned producer and soundsystem operator was born in St. James, Jamaica. Neville’s soundsystem had long residencies in Brixton, Tooting, Peckham and Streatham during the 70s. In those days he was a mentor to David Rodigan, Levi Roots and Blacker Dread. Neville King launched his own labels in London in 1976 and quickly struck gold. He issued exceptional roots material by Prince Lincoln and the Royal Rasses and Jacob Miller. Mr King was also one of the instigators of Lovers Rock, releasing many of his own production in the genre. His work holds a special place for us.Another of our amigos, Ras Danny Dread, ( also known as Ras Danny Mosiah,) will be putting the needle to the groove on the decks too, to close the show. The mighty Danny will need no introduction to regulars at The Deptford Dub Club, as he is a stalwart. He’s more widely known through his work with the monumental Jah Shaka Soundsystem, over many decades. His sets are always wicked. Also guesting on the mic will be various club favourites.
The evening will commence with a warm up selection that’ll be succeeded by the return of another real Club stalwart, Selector Becca. The vibrant Becca exudes positive vibes and can be relied upon for a scintillating Reggae revive set, presented with style. After her, the mighty Soft Wax will be spinning, on the wheels of steel, with a fresh selection. He’ll joined by the great Doc Murdoch, our resident Singjay for the whole evening. They’ll be joined, live and direct, by the Horn Section.
Plus our resident engineer, the inimitable Prince Fatty, will be mixing live on the desk throughout the evening, ensuring a full and rich sound from the full rig. Rocksteady will be playing throughout the early evening, in the glorious garden, at The Fox. We'll be stoking up the mighty set inside from 6.30 ( this will be piped out into the garden too.) Put on your dancing shoes and come on down.
