Dept of Rock 2024 Battle of the Bands
We started with 24 bands playing in 4 heats...then 12 bands slaying in 2 semi finals...and now it's the final countdown. 4 bands will be battling in the grand final to be crowned winner of Dept of Rock 2024. Finalists tbc after the semis.

Dept of Rock Battle of the Bands is a feel-good and friendly band competition at Canberra’s favourite live music venue Smith’s Alternative. Our aim is to showcase and encourage amateur musos working in government, while smashing some myths about boring public servants and raising some money for local charities. Sure it’s a competition but it’s not really about winning or losing – Dept of Rock is about having a go, getting creative, connecting with others and having loads of fun with music.
