About this Event
Join Canada Geese Protection Colorado, Denver Parks & Rec, and the Safe Summer Kick Off with Get Outdoors Day for our June cleanup at Garfield Lake!
Join us for the full event, or for however long you can!
Community members collect trash and make the environment a safer place for birds, turtles, fish, and other animals to live.
Our cleanup will also take place along with the Safe Summer Kick Off with Get Outdoors Day event, which is a free family-friendly event, designed to promote access to healthy and safe outdoor spaces, support under-resourced communities, and celebrate nature exploration. There will be many activities and vendors along live entertainment, free food, snacks, child/youth activities, and a career and family resource fair. (*The Safe Summer Kickoff event is scheduled from 10AM to 3PM, the cleanup runs 10AM to 1PM)

Staging Ground: TBD
Our cleanups are all-ages, family-friendly events that provide a safe and humane activity that helps wildlife in our community and allows community members to become better acquainted with the lake ecosystem and to learn about local conservation efforts.
Last year CGPC held six lake cleanup events throughout the spring and fall collecting 3000+ gallons of plastic and trash.
Please join us for our June 3rd clean-up at Garfield Lake. Let's help clean the lake for the migratory Canada Geese, waterfowl, birds, and wildlife that rely on the its water!
'The public can play a role in cleaning the trash from the land and the waters for the benefit of our community and of our wildlife.
If you have chest-high waders and want to get into the thick of mud and muck, great! If you have galoshes, the shoreline calls you! If you have reliable sneakers, the grassy fields beckon you!'
Note: Denver Parks & Recreations requires that a liability waiver be signed. A DPR representative will be on site with waiver forms.
Trash bags, trash pickers, waders, and buckets will be provided.
There are a limited number of gloves available.
Please consider the following:
Wear a cloth mask optional.
