About this Event
Climate Engagement, Finance and the Law
In response to the existential threat of climate change, the world is urgently looking for new ways to mitigate the impact on the environment. Law plays a crucial role by providing a framework through which climate initiatives may be enforced. Sustainable finance is increasingly being looked to as a tool to mobilise global markets towards environmentally responsible decisions and to catalyse change. It encompasses a diverse array of financial instruments and investment strategies, ranging from sustainability-linked loans, ESG investing, carbon trading, fossil fuel subsidies, to green and transition finance. Other whole-of-society efforts, including Government partnerships with private sector participants, aim to bring more resources to bear on problems, but must ideally be facilitated on a sound legal footing.
The 2024 Dentons Rodyk Dialogue brings together a distinguished and diverse panel of experts comprising various stakeholders in the debate to share their perspectives on how finance and law can play a crucial role in climate action.
