Moonshine, White Lightning, Corn Squeezin's... whatever its name, illegal liquor has long been a controversial enterprise that gets included in few official histories. Interestingly, Denton County has long had an intimate if conflicted relationship with alcoholic beverages, a history of bootleggers, outlaws, and entrepreneurs that offers a unique perspective on the development of many Texas communities. Dr. Shaun Treat will share some of this "History of Hooch in Denton County" as a precursor to today's renewed interest in craft beer, Texas whiskey, and popular draft houses or growler bars and local distilleries that are reinvigorating many downtown Texas communities.RSVP
The fine folks at Anderson’s Distillery will have some special craft cocktails and delectable gnoshes available for this virtual tour through rare vintage photos and local history!! 🥃
