About this Event

The Embassy of France in the United States will host a roundtable discussion on the regulation of artificial intelligence: "Demystifying the Looming Artificial intelligence Regulatory Landscape – Transatlantic Perspectives."

This event is part of the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit, scheduled for February 10-11, 2025, in Paris. The summit will bring together high-level leaders, including Heads of State and Government, representatives of international organizations, CEOs of both small and large companies, members of academia, non-governmental organizations, artists, and civil society stakeholders.

Artificial intelligence (AI) represents more than just an industrial and technological revolution. It has the potential to profoundly reshape our societies, transforming our relationships with knowledge, work, information, culture, and even language.

The panel, introduced by Laurent Bili, Ambassador of France to the United States, and moderated by Natalie G. Roisman (Executive Director of the Institute for Technology Law & Policy at Georgetown University Law Center), will feature distinguished experts, including:

Gerry Petrella, General Manager, U.S. Public Policy, Microsoft;

Océane Thieriot, Political Advisor, French Embassy;

Jean-Rémi de Maistre, CEO of Jus Mundi ;

Mr. Johannes Bahrke, Digital Counselor at the EU Delegation to the United States

The roundtable discussion will explore key topics such as:

• Ethical and legal challenges in the rapidly evolving AI landscape;

• Differences and convergences between AI regulations in Europe and the United States;

• Ensuring that AI respects humanist values and serves society and the public interest.

This conference will offer attendees the opportunity to hear insights from U.S., EU, and French officials, as well as industry leaders and a prominent voice from the LegalTech sector, who are at the forefront of ethical AI development.

This event is organized by the Embassy of France to the US, Georgetown University Law Center, and Jus Mundi
