About this Event
Have you ever wanted to make a quilt but don't know where to start? Do you love sewing straight lines but ran out of interesting project ideas? In this workshop, we will dive into the world of quilting with a fresh perspective and make a simple and colorful Block (8"x8"). You will walk away with inspiration and a newfound confidence to keep going! Topics covered in this two-part workshop are as follows:
Part 1 (lecture style): OCTOBER 18TH @5:30PM
- Key components of a quilt
- Common quilting fabrics
- Solids vs. patterns
- What's a Jelly Roll? Fat Quarter?
- Major quilting design styles
- Must-have tools for quilting
- Design your own Block
Part 2 (hands-on sewing): NOVEMBER 2ND @4PM
- Block Design Review
- How to cut on a bias (aka sew triangles)
- Sew a quilting Block
For Part 2, you can bring your own sewing machine or use our sewing machine at the store. You can also choose to bring your own fabric or use our fabric.
Duration: 1.5 hrs for each part
