Mark will demonstrate how to paint a floral subject in acrylics using the subtractive method, selectively removing paint to reveal the light and build form.
Mark T Shepheard, artist, recently moved to Largs from the United States. He is retired as a hairdresser, but also trained and worked as a metalsmith and interior designer. Mark received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Though he has worked in other careers, Mark constantly pursues drawing and painting, choosing to work in a wide variety of media. His love for Scotland stemmed from six trips over eighteen years, traveling with an enthusiastic group of painters throughout the Highlands. It has felt like his home for many years.
You will recognise Mark as he has joined the club and has been regularly attending the demonstration evenings.
We meet fortnightly in the Main Hall in the Argyle Community Centre, Campbell Avenue, Saltcoats (KA21 5AG).
Doors open at 7.15pm, with the demonstrations starting at 7.30pm and finishing at 9.15pm.
Annual membership is only £20 or the visitor fee is £2.50 per evening. Tea, coffee & biscuits are available at the break for 50p.
