We hope you can join us on Saturday, August 30th, for an evening of Democracy in Action, a fundraiser benefiting Potter/Randall Democrats and The Panhandle Democrats.The evening will spark "conversations creating action," including several areas of democracy:

Social Security Fairness Act- WEP/GPO Repeal
We will hear from Shanna James, Continuum Of Care and Co-Chair of Re-entry. Shanna will cover the intersection of Mental Health, Substance abuse, Justice-involved and homelessness, and how the Federal cuts will impact our community.
Elizabeth Overstreet Hampton, owner of Warford Overstreet Mortuary. A local business owner and resident of Amarillo, the community that raised her to be who she is. Building a strong community is her focus and she will share her top components to create a community that can stand the test of time.
Eliseo Jimenez will share his his journey at age 17 walking from Lubbock to Washington DC in 2024 to repeal WEP and GPO and to raise money for his non-profit New Life Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities and senior citizens.
2025 Keynotes Speakers:
Texas Democratic Chairmen, Kendall Scudder.
Kendall is the son of a social worker, a paramedic, and a corrections officer who taught him values like service to others—their dedication to improving themselves and their community lit a fire inside him, pushing him to work hard every day to leave the world a little better than he found it.
Clayton Tucker, Texas AG Commissioner Candidate.
Clayton is a 5th-generation Texan. From the moment he could wear his own pair of boots, his grandfather put him to work at his family’s ranch, the RX Ranch, in Lampasas. Clayton grew up bailing hay, mending fences, and running cattle on weekends and summers, while attending school in Georgetown during the weekdays, as his mother worked at the Texas Railroad Commission.
Kat Vargas of @HowdyPolitics. The spouse of a first responder, mom of 3, Kat Vargas saw a need to reach young voters: particularly millennial women missed by traditional outreach strategies. Her Instagram page follows real time bill tracking, easy to understand analysis, and action items on the local, state, and federal levels with a focus on the issues most important to Texans.
