About this Event
You are invited to join The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus to honor Catherine Willis, community activist, educator, advocate for children and the arts, and founder of Urban Strings youth orchestra as we celebrate our 33rd year of Democracy In Action (DIA) on May 13, 6pm at the Boathouse, 679 W. Spring St., Columbus 43215.
DIA, the League’s highest honor, is given annually to an individual or organization that has made outstanding contributions to the civic life of Central Ohio. Catherine Willis is recognized for her lifetime dedication and commitment to education, the arts, and family advocacy in Columbus.
Catherine has selected two honorary co-chairs for the event: Larry James, Partner with Amundsen Davis Law Firm and Columbus Community Volunteer and Priscilla Tyson, Community Advocate for Columbus and former Columbus City Councilwoman.
Democracy In Action will begin at 6:00pm with a reception of hors d’oeuvres and beverages. The program will start at 7:00pm.
Funds raised from the Democracy In Action Award event support the mission of the League of Women Voters in central Ohio to promote the informed and active participation of citizens in government and influence public policy through education and advocacy. Sponsor support ensures the continuation of the League’s vital services, including the nonpartisan voter guide; voter registration events; candidate forums; educational events; and good government.
