About this Event

From Clarksdale, Mississippi, Taylor Craven has twice received recognition in American Songwriter Magazine. He was a top ten finisher in the 2014 and 2015 Texas Troubadour Songwriter Classic, selected by Ray Wiley Hubbard and the late Hal Ketchum. He has shared the pen with songwriting masters Mark Sherrill, Wood Newton, Rafe Van Hoy and Bo Roberts, to name a few. His co-write with Roberts, “Somewhere Between Bridges” was recorded by Outlaw Country legend, Dallas Moore. “Claws (A Cat’s Letter to Santa)”, co-written with Tommy Crawford, was recorded by Hall of Famer Ray Stevens. Taylor is a founding member of the Mississippi Songwriter Alliance and Festival.

The musical collaboration of singer-songwriters, Darwin and Dana Nelson (aka the former Mayor & First Lady of Lucedale, Ms.) known as "Double Dee" has taken them far from coastal Gulfport and their small-town roots of Lucedale, Mississippi and carried them across the country where they have created a name for themselves at numerous songwriting festivals, house concerts, and top-flight venues. They have performed at Margaritavilles/Parrotheads from New Orleans to Pensacola Beach as well as entertained audiences ages 2-92 at other venues from Texas to Florida. The acoustic duo has been described by others as Americana/Folk/Gulf Western/Country, blending harmonic originals with a Mississippi accent. These two have opened up for such recording artists as Keith Sykes, Mac McAnally, Molly Hatchet, Louisiana’s Leroux, Ronnie McDowell, Will Kimbrough, John Conley, Jeff Bates, and Darrell Worley among others.

Stephen Lee Veal was Raised in Music Traditions of Tulsa, then a family move to the Gulf Coast added the influences of Jazz/Blues/Swamp Rock/Southern Gospel. Stephen Lee’s first cut, recorded at Duane Allen’s (Oak Ridge Boys) Studio, by The Gulf Coast Quartet played on Southern Gospel Radio back in the 70’s. Later in Nashville, Stephen Lee wrote with several #1hit song writers, played 27 shows at the Bluebird Cafe, where also his “Mardi Gras Song” has been Performed every Fat Tuesday by co-writer Les Kerr (from Mississippi) for over 20 years.Stephen Lee Veal's CD of Original Songs, with an emphasis on songs that tell stories, “No Lifeguard By The Gene Pool” was Chosen by Southland Music Line’s Johnny Cole as #6 of “Ten Favorite Albums of 2020, Stephen Lee is steadily adding to his list of co-writers, Nashville & Local.
