Join us on our Annual Mines Road Climbers Challenge and Livermore Roller and Sycamore Grove Gravel rides on Sunday March 9, 2025! Weather and road conditions permitted. This year, we’ll have several routes to choose from. We’ll have the original challenge ride to the junction and back (60+ miles/4,300+’ elevation) and for those wanting less or need to be back sooner, we have a turnaround point at the County line (Smith Gulch), (42 miles/ 2,800’ elevation). For those interested in gravel riding, Burt Riveira will be leading Sycamore Grove ride (18 miles/1,300’ elevation). For those interested in even lesser climbing (42+’ 1,300), Maria Pena-Lucas, will be leading a ride through San Ramon via Highland Rd, Camini Tassajara, Crow Canyon and then head back to Livermore.
Please note Daylight Saving Time is Sunday March 9th and starting times: Everyone will start from the Ernie Rodrigues Softball Fields parking lot on the corner of Concannon/S. Livermore Ave. (1505 S Livermore Ave, Livermore Ca 94550). The riders who plan to take the trek to the junction or the county line on Mines Road will meet at 8:00am for an 8:30 spin time. All other riders can meet at 8:15am for an 8:45 am start.
A note of caution: There is no services available on Mines Road. Please plan ahead and prepare for long distance riding with what you can carry. This includes fuel, hydration and items for mechanicals. Don’t count on the Junction Restaurant being open for business or the Forestry Department having a jug of water available at their driveway. We’ll be checking in with The Rainbow Junction Restaurant prior to the ride to check on status.
We will have our customary potluck lunch with BYOB so if you’d like to participate, please do so. We will be providing the main dish; pancakes, sausages and bacon. If you need a suggestion about what to bring, please send a note!
