Delta Pedaler’s Annual San Francisco Paradise Loop Ride!It’s that time of year where we all gather in San Francisco for a no drop ride across the Golden Gate Bridge and make a loop around Tiburon for the fantastic Paradise loop on September 14h! This incredibly scenic group ride will depart from the Chrissy Field East parking lot near the bathrooms and head over the Golden Gate Bridge. From there, the group splits into two with the riders who want a bit of a challenge will head upward for a 46 miler up the Marin Headlands for a nice climbing loop. The main group will continue under the bridge and head out to Sausalito for the 40 miles Paradise loop with about 1,900’ of elevation. The plan is for both groups to meet up along the route and ride the Paradise loop together.
We have a planned refueling stop in Tiburon at mile 25 after the loop part of the ride. There is a sandwich shop with outdoor seating, so we can have a nice snack while keeping an eye on our bikes. We will be there for about a half an hour or so as we don't want to wait around to let the muscles to cool down too much.
It’s going to be a dynamic day with everyone able to pick the ride they feel comfortable with while still enjoying the amazing sights, sounds, smell of the ocean of San Francisco Bay! These NO DROP RIDES does not get too much better than this especially if you have not had a chance to ride your bike across the Golden Gate Bridge!
Meet at the Chrissy Field East Beach parking lot at 8:00am for an 8:25 safety briefing and 8:30 departure. The weather in San Francisco can be very unpredictable with heavy fog. Plan ahead for various weather conditions as well as bring items needed for hydration, fuel and mechanical mishaps. (Tubes, air etc.) Please do not forget your helmet and everyone rides at their own risk!
We are having the customary post ride potluck lunch to feed the hungry masses so plan on enjoying a very nice lunch, drinks and wonderful conversation before you head home. We’ll need some help these items to make this another spectacular gathering of friends so let us know what you can bring and share!
It’s highly recommend you also bring a folding chair and BYOB. Carpool also recommended so start the conversations soon about traveling with someone to lessen the impact on the parking area.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Please obey all traffic laws while riding on the road as well as the bike paths. The Sausalito Police are known to freely hand out tickets to cyclists.
