Share this with your neighbours as I want to fill the place up.
Hello All, after a few months of planning, a survey to determine the best time and date for all, the Delta Community Safety and FireSmart Forum is finally a reality.
Thanks to the United Way Community Love Grant, FireSmart Canada, KeepSafe Systems and our food Sponsor M'n'A Wings and Pizza on 64th and 120th, the event has been put together.
A few amazing volunteers have stepped forward and offered to help and I am still looking to round out the team to make this go off without a hitch.
This FREE event brings together experts to share information on:
🏡 Neighbourhood Security with Block Watch Programs
🚫🕵️ Fraud/Scam Awareness and Prevention
🔥 Protecting Your Home & Property with FireSmart™ Principles
⚠️ Emergency Preparedness
Because the Centre for the Arts has limited theatre seating, you can get your FREE TICKETS here https://forms.gle/h6UbossDop64ysgu7
Also indicate your interest on here to not only help spread the event but so you will get a reminder from Facebook, as the event draws near.
As an added bonus there will be an appearance by Ember the Yellow Fox, the FireSmart BC Mascot
I am also looking for volunteers, not for anything back breaking.
- adult or mature high school student who would like to wear the covetted Ember the Fox Costume. The Fox does not talk
- Adult guide for Ember. No, you do not need to pick up after the fox, you just need to make sure she doesn't bump into things and people.
- teacher types or mature students wanting to learn about the kids FireSmart curriculum, as a FireSmart BC LFR I have access to all the materials and can help you along. If you are a teacher and would like information for your class, let me know (I am not a teacher type)
- information table people. Nothing serious just handing out pamplets, you do not have to know all about FireSmart. This is mostly just about ensuring the info tables remain tidy. This is the busy time of yea mr for the Forestry folks so they are out there fighting wildfires. They will try to send someone but this is not guaranteed.
- Food table overseeing. No food prep required
- last but not least, sponsors. Particularly in the area of food and refreshments. Currently Mayu Arul and his lovely wife Abi of MN'A Wings Corner N Pizza have generously donated Pizza to feed the masses as has Geoff from the COBS on Scott and 72nd. Of course sponsors will be recognized and promoted for their community spirit and generosity in helping this Grass Roots community safety project.
Many hands make for light work.
The most important thing is for the community to show up and learn about keeping you and your home and/or business safe from the many risks of loss
Wildfire (we live by a massive forest) Theft, Fraud, Online Scams, Flood, and Earthquakes. The last two are about Emergency Preparedness
