About this Event
We celebrate the 20th anniversary of Nebraska poet Ted Kooser’s “Delights & Shadows” on Saturday, April 27th, with dramatic readings from the Pulitzer Prize-winning collection.
The Church Art House at 3101 S. 20th Street in Omaha will host “Delights & Shadows.” The venue is a former Lutheran church in South Omaha with exceptional acoustics.
Published in 2004, “Delights & Shadows” won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry the following year. Mr. Kooser was then serving the second of two one-year terms as U.S. Poet Laureate.
Nebraska State Poet Matt Mason will introduce the event. The performance starts at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Four professional actors under the direction of Dana Cassling, instructor at the Omaha Community Playhouse, will make dramatic readings of most of the poems in the collection.
The pre-show starts at 6 p.m. It features raptors from the Fontenelle Forest Raptor Refuge Center. Eden Artistry of Crescent, Iowa, will provide floral displays.
