🎶 Beethoven & Blue Jeans is where the DSO goes casual! We kick off with a rising-star composer’s work: Camille Pépin’s Laniakea — a piece inspired by the 2014 discovery of a supercluster of galaxies and meaning “immeasurable celestial paradise” in Hawaiian. And our performance of this piece is its U.S. Premiere!
Then onto Lowell Lieberman’s gorgeous Flute Concerto — a work reflecting movie-score energy highlighted by the jaw-dropping skillfulness of our own Principal Flutist, Kimberly Reighley.
We close the evening with Beethoven’s monumental Eroica Symphony, a piece that totally changed the game of orchestral music.
