Come join us for a poetry reading in our second floor reading room with the following local poets:


Holly Karapetkova is Poet Laureate Emerita of Arlington, Virginia, and recipient of a 2022 Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowship. She’s the author of two award-winning books, Towline from Cloudbank Books and Words We Might One Day Say from Washington Writers Publishing House. She teaches at Marymount University in Arlington, VA.


Dan Brady is the author of the poetry collections Strange Children, Subtexts, and Songs in E——, winner of the Barclay Prize for Poetry, along with two poetry chapbooks. He is the poetry editor of Barrelhouse, a literary magazine and small press based in DC. Previously, Dan served as the editor of American Poets, the journal of the Academy of American Poets, and worked in the Literature Division at the National Endowment for the Arts, where he received a Distinguished Service Award for his work on the Big Read, the largest community reading initiative in US history. He lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife and two kids.


Courtney LeBlanc is the author of the full-length collections Her Whole Bright Life (winner of the Jack McCarthy Book Prize); Exquisite Bloody, Beating Heart; and Beautiful & Full of Monsters. Her next collection, Her Dark Everything is forthcoming in April 2025. She is the Arlington County Poet Laureate and the founder and editor-in-chief of Riot in Your Throat, an independent poetry press. She loves nail polish, tattoos, and a soy latte each morning. Jessica Genia Simon began writing poetry at age seven and lives with her wife and daughter in Silver Spring, Maryland. Built of All I Shape and Name (Kelsay Books, 2023) is her first poetry collection. The poem “Even After” in this collection was nominated for the Pushcart Prize.
