About this Event
Thank you for your interest. A Taste of DEFY is now fully booked.
Whether you have been involved with the project intimately, or peripherally or are curious now, we would love to see you for this special 2-part event.
Over the last 3 years, DEFY has been creating rare spaces for educators working in or adjacent to Global Citizenship Education (GCE) to explore entanglement in cascading crises of poverty, inequality, genocide, ecological collapse (‘difficult-knowledge'). A guiding question for the project has been how purposeful engagement with difficult-knowledge might deepen our practice as well as our readiness to hold space for others.
The experiences and insights of those involved in the project have inspired no less than two zines and a newly completed handbook for educators on navigating difficult-knowledge and discomfort. We are excited to share these pieces on January 27th, by way of a Pocket Workshop and Exhibition. Please see more details below and come along to both sessions if you can!
What the day looks like (update 22nd- the event is fully booked)

Session 2, 4-6pm: Tea & Cake//Exhibition FULLY BOOKED

DEFY is a pan-European collaboration between STAND, Comhlámh, finep (Germany) and Zavod Voluntariat (Slovenia). Since its inception in April 2023 and by way of seminars, conversation circles and an extended programme called “Shifting Edges”, the project has engaged over 100 educators from across Ireland, Slovenia and Germany.
