FAQs
Who is this AED and CPR course for?
Anyone who wants the confidence to respond to a sudden cardiac arrest, including workplace first aiders, teachers, community group volunteers, sports coaches, gym staff and anyone with access to an AED. No prior experience is required.
How long does the certificate last?
Your certificate is valid for 3 years. We recommend annual refresher practice to keep your skills sharp.
Does this replace EFAW or FAW?
No. This is a focused AED and CPR course, not a full workplace first aid qualification. Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) and First Aid at Work (FAW) already include CPR and AED use. This course is ideal where AED use is the priority or as a refresher between full first aid courses.
Is there a minimum age?
Learners should be 16 or over. Younger learners can attend with prior agreement where appropriate (e.g. school or college groups).
Do I need any prior first aid experience?
No prior experience is needed. The course is designed for complete beginners as well as anyone wanting to refresh their CPR and AED skills.
How are learners assessed?
Assessment is by continuous observation throughout the course, including a practical CPR and AED scenario. There is no written exam.
What should I bring on the day?
Just yourself in comfortable clothing, you'll be kneeling on the floor for CPR practice. We provide all training equipment, manikins, training AEDs and course materials.
Can you deliver this course at our workplace?
Yes. We deliver this course onsite anywhere in the UK at your workplace, school or venue. We just need a suitable room with floor space for CPR practice.
Does the course cover paediatric AED use?
Yes, we cover the use of paediatric pads and key considerations when using an AED on a child or infant. For full paediatric first aid, see our Paediatric First Aid course.
What are your group booking sizes?
We recommend a maximum of 12 learners per course to ensure everyone gets plenty of hands-on practice. Larger groups can be split across multiple sessions.
