Deep Wintering: A Candlelit Yin Workshop for Deep Rest

Join us for an evening of soft surrender to nourish the body and soul as we soften into the changing season, welcoming the winter solstice in warmth and comfort.
We'll move gently through a series of yin postures while cultivating gratitude for the year and enabling surrender into the final season of the annual cycle. The shift into winter is all about reflecting and clearing space, and it is an opportunity to practice self-care and connection. In this 90 minute workshop, we’ll slow down the body and the mind and soften into a state of peaceful surrender, just in time for the festive break.
If you are new to the practice of yin, it is a floor-based practice that uses props to find supported stretches that are held for at least 3 minutes, and sometimes up to 8 minutes. By surrendering our muscles to the forces of gravity, we can begin to release tension that is stored in the intricate web of connective tissue that holds and supports our entire body. We'll be moving through a sequence of long held postures, using props and our intuition to support and guide our journey of discovery throughout the intricate web of our connective tissue. Not only will this practice create a feeling of space and expansion in our physical body, but we can also begin to release some of our stored emotion and suffering. Yin allows us time to take in the whole picture, and to observe how our mental and emotional reactions can cause unhelpful patterns of behaviour and physical tension.

In this session, we will work to gently discover and release areas within our body that are holding any physical or emotional tension from the rest of the year, and to leave feeling well rested, and ready to surrender to the flow of life. The intention is to use candlelight and an atmospheric playlist to create a warm, nourishing and safe space in which we can begin to explore the relationship between body and mind. All props are provided.
