About this Event
About the talk
Trees are some of the most revered, and ecologically important plants. The create a habitat for other organisms, they moderate the climate, but are also an important source of food and raw materials for humans. Their exuberant flowers, large size or bright autumn leaves brings us awe and their presence can be a source of comfort and calmness.
So much of our world relies on tress and yet we often know so little about their inner lives or how they managed to survive for centuries, irrespectively of what happened to and around them.
Using Hillside Garden as a living stage, you will embark on a journey through the fascinating world of trees. From when they start as a seedling, to becoming the tallest and oldest organisms on earth. You will know why trees have a single stem, why some shed their leaves, or what are the secrets behind their longevity.
If you would like to observe trees with a renewed interest and wonder, or simply know more about how they function, then this session is for you.
