Artist bio:
Zen Wang comes from a long line of provocative artists. His grandmother bit off her own foot bindings at night; learned to read and write; became a famous embroiderer and divorced her arranged husband and married the man she chose for herself. Zen's grandfather sculpted nude marble statues in communist China and was fired from the art academy and placed under house arrest during the Cultural Revolution. Zen's father participated in student demonstrations during the Tiananmen Square Student movement and became a political refugee in Canada. Today Zen carries the family torch and tells stories that matter to people who give a damn.
Artist Statement:
What's life? What's sex? Why is sex so pleasurable yet so 'BAD'? What are we afraid of? I wanted answers through studying the world and self-reflection. I got answers and much more from the stories around me. Touching stories, sexy stories, but ultimately human stories.
Through "DEEP - A Very Graphic Novel" I want to make readers question all that is taught to them regarding sex and sexuality. I want the audience to make up their own DAMN mind based on who they truly are. In authentic, genuine self expressions comes the true meaning of SEXINESS. We were born to enjoy this life. We were born to enjoy each other's company. Start living my friends!
