About this Event
Asalam Alaykum!
We hope that this finds you well. On behalf of Dartmouth College's Al-Nur Muslim Student Association, we are thrilled to announce our New England Muslim Student Summit - Deen @ Dartmouth, which is scheduled to take place from Jan 24th - Jan 25th, 2025!
We hope this news brings you as much excitement as it does for us. This summit is not only a testament and celebration of our faith, but also an opportunity to foster unity, collaboration and most importantly, authentic connection amongst Muslim college students across the region. Our theme for this year will be "Cultivating Community and Understanding," inspired by the diversity of experiences with Islam, especially here in the woods at Dartmouth.
One of the key messages we want to convey is the importance of supporting one another's journey with Islam, and that we are all here to learn from one another. This summit revolves around these themes of community, compassion and understanding, and we hope that these universal themes resonate with you all.
What will Deen @ Dartmouth entail?
Deen at Dartmouth will be an overnight summit featuring a culmination of activities aimed at strengthening our deen. We plan to do this by helping build community, and reflecting on our own journeys with islam no matter how it may/has looked.
Some highlights include:
Open mic/live performances from our talented students/guests
Team Islamic Jeopardy (with customized prizes!)
A girls only/guys only Qiyam night for bonding and reflection
A Justice/Islamic history workshop with a guest speaker and student facilitator
Thought-provoking Quran/Hadith reflection circles and discussion
Gala dinner with a keynote speaker, with Q&A
Outdoor winter activities (since we are in the woods/mountains, duhhh)
Why Deen @ Dartmouth?
At Dartmouth, we take immense pride in our tight-knit, welcoming campus. Situated in the woods of New Hampshire, our small size offers a perfect environment for a rejuvenating summit. Insha'Allah, with your attendance, we can have a summit where we all grow together, build friendships, and engage in enriching conversations that will influence communities beyond our own campuses.
The “Dartmouth Difference,” is a term that doesn't have a definition, but is something every Dartmouth student is able to attest to on what makes Dartmouth so unique. We want you all to experience this difference, and explore our vibrant community.
Please register and purchase your ticket here! This registration is open to graduate and undergraduate college students only. Housing and meals will be provided on Friday and Saturday Jan.24 & 25! On Sunday Jan. 26 the campus is inviting Dr. Ilyasah Shabbaz for the 60th anniversary of Malcolm X visiting campus. You are welcome to stay the extra day but please let us know; we won't be able to guarentee help with meals that day.
