On Thursday, July 7, 1949, Auburn Police Officer Norman Philbrick was directing traffic at the scene of a major structure fire when he was struck and tragically killed following the collision of two fire trucks at the intersection of Main Street and Court Street.Officer Philbrick had served with the Auburn PD for two years and was a beloved member of the police force. Norman was survived by his wife and two beautiful daughters.
On July 7th - the 75th anniversary of his death - at 10:00AM, the City of Auburn and the Auburn Police Department will rename the intersection of Court & Main Streets as "Officer Norman Philbrick Square" in honor of this fallen hero. We hope you will join us as we dedicate and unveil a beautiful new memorial to Officer Philbrick.
