Overview:

Join us for an engaging and transformative workshop offering a decolonized, relational cultural perspective of the clinical supervision process utilizing the Black Perspective. This interactive session will explore practitioners’ ethical dilemmas in social work practice through Afrocentric and relational cultural frameworks and gain critical insights into the clinical supervision process. We aim to embolden clinical supervisors and those preparing for clinical supervision with the Black Perspective to utilize culturally intelligent approaches, foster authenticity, self-awareness, and mutual growth within the supervisory alliance. This workshop is ideal for master’s-level social workers pursuing clinical licensure and clinical supervisors seeking practical tools and skills to navigate the clinical supervision process, licensure requirements, and cultural and ethical considerations through a diverse, strengths-based perspective.

Workshop Objectives:

1. Participants will be able to identify and problem solve ethical dilemmas in social work practice using the lens of the Black Perspective.

2. Participants will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the working alliance formed through the clinical supervision process.

3. Exploration of relational cultural theory and Afrocentric frameworks of practice are effective clinical supervisory methods. They will identify anti-racist supervisory methods that they can employ in practice.

4. Participants will be able to engage in reflective and relational practice, emphasizing the critical roles of authenticity, self-awareness, and cultural intelligence in forming a strong supervisory alliance.
