"The clave is the basic rhythmic pattern around which both Caribbean and New Orleans music are organized. Originated in Africa, the language of the drum is also based on this pattern, later expanding to the rest of the melodic instruments, creating an amalgam of rhythms and melodies in perfect harmony."
