Join Community Workshop NOLA to learn basic woodworking and upholstery skills while making a unique upholstered bench.
In this workshop, participants will assemble upholster a small bench. Wood will be premilled before class. Students will learn the chop saw, pocket hole jig, drills, and drivers. After the bench is assembled participants will sand and upholster the top using a brad gun. Participants will have to bring their own fabric. This class is open to all! No woodworking experience required. Come enjoy our shop and tools, make friends, and learn a new skill.
About the Instructor
Chelsea Van Voorhis is a visual artist focused on creating fashion forward pieces out of wood with social and political commentary. She uses traditional woodworking materials and techniques to make non-traditional pieces.
