You're invited to Messy Church! Please join us on Saturday, December 7 right at 4:00 PM for crafts for all ages, community service projects, storytelling, singing, and a free dinner. Come get ready for the mystery of Christmas with us! This month, we will make Christmas tree ornaments and other special Advent crafts.Messy Church is for ALL ages -- not just children. You can come if you are nine months or ninety years! Please note that a parent or other responsible adult must stay with children and teens.
Messy Church meets at Saint James United Methodist Church. You may park at the church's parking lot at 29 Pearl Street, Kingston, NY or at the Ulster County Parking Lot right next door. Please enter the building at the "elevator door" found at our parking lot.
If you have food allergies or other special needs we would be glad to try to accommodate them. Please email [email protected] by Friday, December 5 if you need a food allergy-friendly meal. (We try to always have a gluten-free and dairy-free option, but it helps to know how many people will need it.)
It can be helpful to know an event's routine ahead of time. Our usual pattern at Messy Church is:
* One hour of crafts, community service projects, and games from 4-5 PM in our fellowship room. There are usually between 5 and 8 different activities going on. (There will also be a quiet space in the sanctuary for coloring and taking a sensory break.)
* Then a parade with rhythm instruments and singing as we move to the sanctuary (the room where church services are held)
* We sit together on a carpet (or on the pews) and tell a Bible story, sing songs, and say a short prayer
* Then we have a free dinner together! We usually are finished by 6:15 PM, in time for most families' evening routines.
We hope you'll join us! Bring friends!
