A very special performance for the last lunchtime jazz of the year! Pianist David Newton needs little introduction: 16 times winner of the British Jazz Award for best pianist, he broke onto the scene in the 1980s, recording his first CD with the great American clarinetist Buddy de Franco and has since worked with a galaxy of mainstream jazz stars from Bud Shank to Stacy Kent.
Trumpeter Stuart Henderson was formerly principal trumpet of The Scots Guards Band in Her Majestyβs Household Division during which he played many times for the Royal Family and at State occasions all over the world. Since leaving the services Stuart has become a fixture on the UK jazz scene appearing with many of the countries finest jazz musicians.
Join us for an hourβs jazz in the Cafe at the Guildford Institute, which boasts a baby grand piano as well as delicious food, as we welcome these wonderful musicians, plus Marianne Windham on bass.
Food is served from 12 to 2pm, followed by live jazz performance from 2pm to 3pm
