Natasha Bailey
Natasha Bailey is the owner of Hawthorn Counselling Services in downtown Vancouver. Originally from Newfoundland, she moved from Canada to Ireland in 1996 to study at NUI Maynooth. While in Ireland, Natasha worked in policy advocacy, research and adult/parent education delivery with organizations such as The National Women’s Council, An Cosan, One Family and AONTAS and relocated to Vancouver in 2011. She worked as a proposal writer and evaluator with immigrant-serving organizations, such as MOSAIC and DIVERSEcity here in Vancouver, before retraining as a counsellor in 2019. Her work has fed a passion for empowering change with individuals, groups, organizations and communities, and the belief that a sense of belonging and reducing inequality are essential to well-being.
Natasha has had the experience of immigration and integration in Ireland and then the reverse culture shock of a return to Canada after many years in Dublin. This experience inspired her to make one of her counselling focal areas individuals and couples who are Irish newcomers and long-time residents who are experiencing issues such as: homesickness; feeling torn between two places; relationship challenges; navigating family pressures in Ireland from Canada; loneliness/isolation; parenting challenges, and midlife transitions. Natasha now lives in Vancouver with her partner who is from Kerry and her 13-year old child and loves cooking for friends and family, powerlifting and dancing.
