A teacher and anthropologist by training, Debbie New has coordinated coalitions and working groups dedicated to decarbonization of the thermal sector. She launched the Vermont Community Geothermal Alliance and a Network Action Team (supported by Energy Action Network) in 2022 to support geothermal energy and put Thermal Energy Network solutions on the table in Vermont. Much of her work involves facilitating action-oriented initiatives, creating supporting materials, and translating technical or financial information for decision-makers, advocates, and the public.
