More info below and at their website: Http://www.debbiebond.com Debbie Bond: Singer, guitar player, and songwriter Debbie Bond has been paying her dues in Alabama for over forty years. Influenced by raw juke joint blues and the famed sounds of Muscle Shoals, Debbie's impressive story includes years of performing with traditional Alabama blues musicians, like Johnny Shines, Eddie Kirkland, Willie King, Shar Baby, Little Jimmy Reed and more. Debbie is a blues activist and founder of the award-winning Alabama Blues Project, a non-profit dedicated to promoting and preserving the state’s blues heritage. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including a “Keeping the Blues Alive Award” from the Blues Foundation, and a prestigious “Coming Up Taller Award” for her blues education work with the Alabama Blues Project. She has been recognized by the Alabama Music Hall of Fame as a “Blues Achiever” and the national Blues Hall of Fame as a “Great Blues Artist.” Following their last UK tour, the Debbie Bond Blues Band was nominated for "Best International Blues Act" by the UK Blues Federation.
"Radiator" Rick, British born keyboard / harmonica player (and husband) has been collaborating with Debbie over the last twenty plus year. He added a swampy New Orleans edge to her sound. The pair are regulars on the Southern and European blues club and festival circuit. “Radiator” Rick Asherson is a multi-instrumentalist who blows a mean harp, plays honky-tonk piano with hints of Louisiana swamp, sings and co-writes on all their tunes. He has co-produced their six critically acclaimed albums.
Rick first heard the blues in his native city of London, England, where he began to play the harmonica, guitar and piano in the '60s. Fast forward to 2001 and Rick was exploring the back roads of the blues trail through Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama when he connected with Willie King at his Freedom Creek Festival. Rick soon joined Willie’s band, playing keyboards and harmonica. As his association King deepened, he also arranged three European tours, co-produced King's last two CDs and helped present the Freedom Creek Festival until Willie’s untimely passing. He continues to keep the Annual Freedom Creek Blues Festival alive.
As a blues activist and educator with the Alabama blue project, Rick dug in and soon grew some deep Southern roots, becoming a regular teaching artist with the Alabama Blues Project's award-winning after-school blues programs and artist residencies. With Debbie Bond, he helped in the creation and development of the Alabama Blues Project's educational programs, curricula and traveling exhibitions. Since moving to Alabama in 2001, Rick has performed and played keyboards and harmonica for several other Alabama blues greats, including Little Jimmy Reed, Shar Baby, B. J. Miller, Carroline Shines and Eddie Kirkland.
