Join us for our first law-related event of Lent term here at Selwyn College! On the 27th of January, Craig Whittaker, MP for Calder Valley, and Dr Stevie Martin, fellow of Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge will join the Selwyn Law Society to engage in a debate about assisted dying. The motion discussed will be: “Assisting suicide, contrary to section 2 of the Suicide Act 1961, should be decriminalised”. This is a debate that has important legal implications, but inherently ties into medical and policy issues as well, so everyone, regardless of their knowledge of the law around the issue, is welcome! Chaired by our president Dominic Bridge, it promises to be a thought-provoking and engaging event. Sign up using the Zoom registration link, and join us at 18:00!
