Code of Conduct for Audience

An atmosphere of respect.

• There can be no heckling, booing, shouting, or disruptive noises.
• Applause will be only at designated times (the beginning, end, and after closing statements).
• No signs, banners, campaign materials, or props inside the debate venue will not be allowed.

Electronics

• Phones should be silenced.
• Live-streaming or posting during the event is allowed but should not interfere with other audience members’ ability to listen and focus on the debate.

Seating

• Audience members should remain seated during the debate, unless they wish to depart for the lobby.
• No approaching the stage, moderator, or candidates.

Engagement

• Questions will be crowd-sourced, organized, and read aloud by the moderator only. It will be the judgment of the moderator to select questions based on community input, with an eye toward the most pertinent issues facing the state, the 26th Legislative District, the Kitsap Peninsula, and the City of Bremerton.
• No direct questioning, shouting, or speaking to candidates during the debate.

Consequences

• Disruptive individuals may be escorted out of the venue.
• The moderator will discuss with the theater security precautions and safe evacuation procedures, to be included in the instructions at the onset.
