Dark Nights Film Fest's Friday 11th October, 9.30pm session sees a special presentation of two landmark, award-winning New Zealand films. David Blyth's splatterpunk slasher DEATH WARMED UP (40th anniversary), preceded by Alison Maclean's nightmare phantasy KITCHEN SINK (35th anniversary).
Winner of the “Golden Unicorn” Grand Prix at the 1984 International Festival of Fantastic and Science Fiction Films in Paris, where it was proclaimed a masterpiece by head of jury, Alejandro Jodorowsky, DEATH WARMED UP is wildly stylish, batshit crazy, and violent-as-hell, starring Michael Hurst, Margaret Umbers, and Bruno Lawrence. Also, it's the uncut version, never seen in Aussie cinemas before.
Winner of Best Short Film at Sitges Film Festival and Sydney Film Festival in 1989 and nominated for the Cannes Palm d'Or for Best Short Film, KITCHEN SINK was shot by legendary cinematographer Stuart Dryburgh, scored by Headless Chickens, and stars Theresa Healey.
It's the perfect combo of high art & deep trash, not to be missed on the big screen!
