We are gathering once again for some life affirming conversation over tea/coffee and cake at a Death Cafe here at Te Whenua Retreat. We hope you can join us! This month we are offering an evening session - with the warmer and lighter summer evenings, we hope this time of day will suit many of you.Tea/coffee/cake from 6.30pm. The Death Cafe will begin at 7pm through to 8.30pm. Spaces are limited, so to reserve your spot please click on the ‘tickets’ link, or book via our website.
At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and be a part of a group-directed discussion around death. Far from being morbid, the discussions are lively, free flowing and safe.
Death Cafe is a worldwide phenomenon that began in London in 2011, with the objective of 'increasing awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'. Since then there have been more that 18,000 Death Cafes around the world. If you are mortal, these conversations are for you.
Death Cafe is a not-for-profit organisation, and this event is free to attend. We will be offering some delicious baking and serving tea & coffee, for which a koha donation would be appreciated.
Death Cafe gatherings are 'group-led', meaning the conversation is directed by the participants of the group on the day. Death will always remain a mystery and there are no real answers - but sharing conversation makes the mystery more manageable. Death after all is the one thing that unites all of humanity.
All / any questions welcomed! Bookings essential.
