Death Cafes offer a relaxed, welcoming space for you to share thoughts, stories and questions about death over tea, coffee and snacks. They help you become more comfortable talking about death so you can go on to live your life to the fullest.
There’s no set agenda, no lectures and no pressure — just free-flowing conversation guided by our facilitator, Ballarat Cemeteries CEO Annie De Jong, and supported by members of Ballarat Hospice Care Inc's Supportive Care team.

Our Death Cafes are run according to the rules of the global Death Cafe movement. This was developed in the UK by web developer Jon Underwood and his mother, psychotherapist and counsellor Sue Barsky Reid, based on the ideas of Swiss sociologist and ethnologist Bernard Crettaz.
