Congratulations on surviving January, angels! Let's celebrate by throwing ourselves a little poetry party, featuring none other than the amazing Scarlett Ward...Scarlett Ward is Staffordshire’s current poet laureate 2024-2026. Her debut collection ‘Ache’ was published by Verve press in 2019 and she went on to be shortlisted for The Women Poet’s Prize in 2022. As well as leading workshops for Verve festival and Derby Lit Fest, she has also written for various landmarks across Birmingham such as the Bullring Bull and Library statue for Overhear spoken word app. She is the founder and CEO of award-winning independent publishing house Fawn Press, and was nominated for the Birmingham Award for Arts & Culture. Her most recent work appeared in Nine Arches, Broken Sleep, and 14Poems.
We've also got open mic spots available, 5 minutes apiece, and these are bookable by emailing Charley and Leena at [email protected]. The event kickstarts at 6:30pm and entry is £3. **
