Join multi-award winning writer, Dean Jobb, as he launches his new book, 'A Gentleman and a Thief: The Daring Jewel Heists of a Jazz Age Rogue'. He will be joined in conversation by author, journalist and educator, Stephen Kimber. The event will be hosted by Halifax Public Libraries on Thursday, June 13th, 7:00pm-8:30 at The Paul O'Regan Hall, Halifax Central Library, 5440 Spring Garden Road, Halifax.'A Gentleman and a Thief' is the incredible true story of one of the world's most successful jewel thieves, Arthur Barry, who charmed the elite of 1920s New York, swiped gems worth millions of dollars from their posh country estates, and outfoxed the police and private detectives on his trail.
Dean and Stephen will discuss Arthur Barry's exploits and Dean’s research, giving us all a glimpse into this heady and dazzling era of history.
'A Gentleman and a Thief' will be available for purchase from Bookmark Halifax, as well as a selection Dean Jobb's other titles.

DEAN JOBB is the author of The Case of the Murderous Dr. Cream, winner of the inaugural CrimeCon CLUE Award for true-crime book of the year and longlisted for the American Library Association’s Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction. His previous books include Empire of Deception, which the New York Times Book Review called “intoxicating and impressively researched” and was named the Chicago Writers Association’s Nonfiction Book of the Year. Jobb has written for major newspapers and magazines including the Chicago Tribune, the Globe and Mail and the Irish Times, and was hailed by Esquire magazine as “a master of narrative non-fiction.” Dean Jobb is a professor in the master of fine arts in creative non-fiction program at the University of King’s College in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
STEPHEN KIMBER, a Professor of Journalism at the University of King’s College in Halifax and co-founder of the university’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction program, is an award-winning writer, editor and broadcaster.
