This decoy school is geared for the beginner training decoy or an experienced decoy who wants to sharpen their basic foundational
training skills as well as introduce Advanced Techniques and Skills.
This school will cover:
* Training Philosophy
* Nerve Classification
* Environmental Neutralization
* Drive Channeling
* Grip Development
* Skills (Outs, Redirects, Call Off and more)
* Muzzle Work
* Advanced Police K9 Skills/Scenarios (Vehicle Extractions, Building Searches and more)
* Advanced PPD Skills/Scenarios
* Advanced PSA K9 Skills/Scenarios
Information being taught is NOT sport specific and will cover the progression from a pup to a “finished” adult dog. Everything taught is applicable whether it be sport, personal protection or Police K9. Working Decoys will decoy through several stations practicing their technique with multiple dogs. Working Decoys will be ranked under Shawn Edwards after practical and oral exams they will receive ranked t-shirt.
Shawn has been training and decoying for Police K9, Personal Protection and K9 Sports since 1994. It was then he began his career as a USAF Patrol/Narcotics K9 Handler. He has deployed with the DEA HIDTA Task Force in Baltimore, MD which led him to joining the Baltimore Police Department. There, he held positions as a K9 Handler, Head K9 Unit Trainer as well as K9 Unit Commander. Shawn has been involved in PSA K9 since 2003. He is a competitor, judge and 8 time PSA National Select Decoy and has been inducted into the PSA K9 Hall of Fame. He has directly assisted in the training of multiple PSA National Champions at all 3 levels.
