Experience the beautiful, brand new 4K restoration of Grigori Kromanov's unforgettable bizarre and haunting sci-fi mystery – DEAD MOUNTAINEER'S HOTEL (1979)!

Considered one of the greatest Estonian films of all time and based on a novel by Soviet-Russian authors Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, whose novel Roadside Picnic was the basis for Andrei Tarkovsky’s Stalker, Dead Mountaineer’s Hotel similarly revolves around a mysterious, otherworldly locale – this time a remote alpine lodge whose peculiar guests may not be what they seem.

When Police Inspector Peter Glebsky follows an anonymous call to the secluded mountain inn, he finds a seemingly serene resort atmosphere instead of a crime. Glebsky decides to enjoy his unexpected all-inclusive getaway at the oddly dubbed hotel – named after a hiker who plummeted from a nearby peak. However what begins as a pleasant evening in the company of the inn’s rather eccentric guests becomes increasingly bizarre when he discovers an ominous anonymous letter has been planned in his pocket. After an avalanche cuts them off from the outside world, several of the hotel’s guests are found (seemingly) murdered. Snowbound and trapped, Glebsky attempts to unravel the mystery but as he navigates the hotel’s labyrinthine, modernist corridors he encounters strange phenomena that defy his grasp of reality. In the shadow of the night, a completely alien world unfolds.

With atmospheric set design, gorgeous cinematography, and a killer otherworldly soundtrack creating a singularly surreal ambience, Dead Mountaineer’s Hotel will bury itself in your memory like a strange dream. Don’t miss this rare chance to catch it on the big screen with Deaf Crocodile's gorgeous new 4K restoration!
