2025 GUEST OF HONOR: HUGH GALLAGHER

HUGH GALLAGHER, underground SOV filmmaker & independent publisher, created his character DRACULINA at the age of 12 in a self-published fanzine. Appearing in Gallagher’s subsequent print media, she also served as the namesake of his independent publishing/distribution outfit(s), DRACULINA PUBLISHING and DRACULINA DIRECT.
DF is overjoyed to share the original event art for Dead Formats 6, featuring a newly-resurrected Draculina drawn by Gallagher for the first time in over a decade(!)
Gallagher—the writer/director/producer behind the infamous shot-on-video GORE TRILOGY will be appearing as the 2025 Guest of Honor at DF 6 (Sat 8/30/25 in Indianapolis). The trilogy, consisting of GORGASM (1990), GOROTICA (1993) and GORE WHORE (1994), was made in Edwardsville, IL and Memphis, TN for a total budget of ~$15,000. The series is often referred to by fans as the “American NEKROMANTIK.”
An essential figure in the mail-order distribution of obscure film/VHS-related print and comics, Gallagher’s publications served as a hub connecting a generation of SOV filmmakers. Draculina Magazine in particular provided a rare peek into the production of not only his own films, but other monumental titles in the genre as well.
