Deacons for Defense is a film based on true events for Black History Month. Deacons for Defense and Justice was an armed African-American self-defense group. The group's Bogalusa chapter gained national attention in summer 1965 after violent struggles with the Ku Klux Klan.This made for TV movie originally aired in 2003, and was directed by Bill Duke, with Forest Whitaker in a lead role.
