The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation presents Deacon John and the Invories on Friday, November 8, 2024 at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center (1225 N. Rampart Street). Doors open at 7pm and the concert begins promptly at 8pm.

His enduring appeal is evidenced by notable performances at events like the Congressional Ball at the White House in 2005, the inauguration of Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal in 2007, and annual performances at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. In 1970, Deacon made history as the first rock’n’roll musician to play with the New Orleans Symphony. His talents have graced Allen Parker’s "Angel Heart," and national commercials for brands like Miller Beer. With a repertoire spanning several albums, including "Singer of Song" and "Deacon John Live at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival," he has achieved numerous accolades, such as induction into the Louisiana Blues Hall of Fame, and receiving Offbeat magazine's Lifetime Achievement Award. His influence extends beyond music, seen in his CNN feature, leading the New Orleans Musicians Union, and starring roles in theater and film. The band, features a full ensemble of keys, saxes, brass, and vocals,and contributes uniquely to Deacon John’s legendary sound.
