Overview
This training session provides an essential understanding of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations, focusing on the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) and the DEA registration process. Participants will gain insight into the legal framework governing controlled substances, including their classification and regulatory requirements.
The session will cover compliance best practices, including proper handling, storage, and documentation of controlled substances to ensure adherence to DEA regulations. By the end of this training, participants will be equipped with the knowledge needed to apply for DEA registration, maintain compliance, and avoid regulatory violations.
Target Audience
Registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, and other interested health care professionals
Objectives
At the conclusion of the educational activity, participants will be able to:
1. Understand DEA Regulations and the Controlled Substances Act
2. Outline the process for obtaining DEA registration for individuals and organizations
3. Identify key compliance requirements for handling, storing, and prescribing controlled substances.
Participants can earn up to 1.0 contact hour of nursing continuing professional development credit. Each nursing participant must be present for the entire session and must complete an evaluation of the session to receive contact hours.
