DC's Traditional Latin Mass community: come one, come all! Now that Traditionis Custodes is taking effect we must sadly say goodbye to the TLM at our regular Sunday parishes and confidently look ahead to what is to come!
A bitter taste no doubt, but in the words of Monty Python, it's time to "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life!"
The silver lining here (and believe me, it is positive!) is that Cardinal Gregory has actually given us a tremendous opportunity!
Starting September 25 (and continuing every Sunday thereafter), at 9am @ the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in Brookland (Northeast DC), all the Trads will be consolidated into one location!
And while it may be cramped, with not enough seating, and seemingly lacking things that we take for granted (like altar rails), despite all these legitimate inconveniences (and ignoring briefly the call for each of us to take up our cross), there are also some major positives to look forward to!
For the first time ever, all of us will be together in one location!
That means all of our mellifluous schola singers, all the dutiful Mass servers, and anyone who has ever sought to share in our beautiful liturgy in any way will be together celebrating Mass as one!
We could have incredible Missa Cantatas sung literally every week! We will likely have a regular weekly Mass attendance that would make all the other parishes in the diocese sit up and take notice at the dedication, reverence, beauty, and appreciation that our form of the Mass inspires!
Our community, which has felt unfairly targeted for the past year, will now get to see each other in our fullness, together every Sunday!
So let's embrace the cards that we have been dealt, and embark on the journey that is at hand! Let's pack this place and make the most of it!
The Franciscan Monastery is a beautiful church with fantastic gardens and grounds (and plentiful parking!) just waiting for young families and friends to take advantage of it!
Join me in making the most of this situation and let's start to build something beautiful as a new dawn rises on the TLM in Little Rome!
