With artificial intelligence software rapidly developing and technology advancing, it is not surprising that many industries, employees, and managers share concerns about the implications of these quickly evolving, difficult-to-regulate technologies on the successful operation of their workplaces. Litigation 101: Helpful Tips & What Not to Do in Employment Litigation
While litigation is a last resort in employment dispute resolution, it is crucial that employers of all sizes and industries understand the fundamental aspects of litigation (should the need arise), as well as the array of implications it can have on their business operations. In this presentation, Barran Liebman Partner Sean Ray will provide helpful tips for how to effectively and successfully handle employment disputes, including actions employers should avoid taking during the litigation process to mitigate unnecessary added legal challenges.

Sean Ray is a partner at Barran Liebman LLP, where he defends employers in complex employment matters and high stakes litigation, including discrimination complaints, sexual harassment lawsuits, retaliation claims, and wage and hour claims. He represents employers in state and district court, as well as before federal and state administrative agencies in Oregon and Washington, such as the EEOC, BOLI, and the Washington State Human Rights Commission. He also works with employers to ensure compliance with changes in the law through well-crafted employee handbooks and customized trainings. Sean is committed to supporting the Ronald McDonald House of Charities, serving on their Governing Board for Oregon & SW Washington after previously serving on their Young Professionals’ Friends of the House Board. He also served as the 2014 Co-Chair of the American Bar Association Young Lawyer Division’s Bullyproof Program which received praise for its implementation in the Portland Public School District. Sean is a past recipient of the Multnomah Bar Association Young Lawyers Section’s Award of Merit. He earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Portland and his J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law. In addition to being licensed to practice in Oregon and Washington, Sean is a Registered United States Patent Attorney.
