Over the past decade, Etana has witnessed her mother’s battle with PD, a chronic and progressive neurological disorder that affects the body’s ability to move and function. Diagnosed at the age of 58, Kathleen’s diagnosis has affected how she sees the world and how she navigates life. The story shares the realities of caregiving and the impact on a family when roles switch much earlier than expected.
The piece explores the complexities of their journey through heartfelt interviews, home videos and reflection. The story unfolds with a focus on the subtleties of the disease and gives us hope that all of us can turn our pain into purpose.
